There is no "add book marks" button, cog, or other option on my browser

more options

I downloaded Firefox, saw the welcome video, and even read the intro and orientation stuff. So where is the favorites box (into which I supposedly imported all mine from the other browser I was using)? There is no "cog" symbol on the upper left bar next to the home page icon. And by the way, there is not a "one click" thingy for all those options as shown in the intro and orientation stuff, it's the same ol' File, Edit, View, History, etc.

Thanks

Sorry there is no official tutorial video for a person new to Firefox.

If you look at the location bar (all other browsers and applications call it the address bar) there is a bookmark star which is gray, click on it and it become filled in to indicate that you have bookmarked a page. Click on it again and you can indicate where you want the bookmark to go instead of the default "Unsorted bookmarks" in other words you can rebookmark the bookmark to another bookmark folder.

The good video was removed by the author Mike Beltzner, from his website, the others I've seen are not practical from my point of view

Some pages on bookmarking and history:

When you first brought up Firefox there were some pages that came up that youi might want to go over.

Be very careful of what you ask for.

Windows XP does not have Window Aero at least not by default so the new stuff was not forced on you. If you want it you can turn it on the Firefox button is about like the Gear. If you want to see menus temporarily you can use the "Alt" to see them like in other browsers. Chrome does not have menus at all.

  • View > Toolbars > (uncheck) menu bar
  • to revert back "Firefox" > Options (2nd column) > Options > ...

Speaking of other browsers, there will be changes of keyboard and mouse shortcuts from what you may be used to
