Tried to upgrade to newer FireFox on my oldish laptop, which obviously does not support the new (now I have NO Firefox--my dock icon has a circle with a slash thru it). Worst thing is that I had many important bookmarks on my older version of Firefox--Can I get those back? Please help.

Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
