Drop-down menus don't stay open. just flash and close. Scroll bars don't hold position, always go to right or down. This is only inside of firefox window' window tool bar works fine. All tasks function normally in windows windows and internet explorer?????

Not really a problem I recall hearing about, but it is in all probability down to some plugin or other software that you have installed. Note safe mode makes some changes including disabling add-ons; bit it does NOT disable plugins.

May I suggest you try safe mode again and this time:

  • no need to make changes in the first window, for now use the option to continue
  • once in safe mode
    • ensure you use only the default theme
    • disable all plugins
  • see also troubleshooting extensions and themes
  • note there is a possibility that software not shown as a firefox plugin could be interfering with Firefox, you may need to consider disabling or temporarily uninstalling other software that affects browsing, and you may need to do that from the Operating System.

If the above does not help all I can suggest is that you follow the ordered troubleshooting procedures listed in :

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

cor-el was correct, I disabled the hardware acceleration and that fixed my issue. My problem was you would click on Favorites and my link list would flash, then it would disappear. It wouldn't stick so I could just pick a link off the list.

It happened with 9.0.1
