How do I remove Drop In Saving$?
I use Firefox. Recently, when I visit certain sites such as Amazon there appeared a roll-over that drops down a list of coupons, discounts, etc. It is titled DropInSaving$. There is a gear icon that offers to disable itself for the current site, but shows up again on other sites.
I WANT THIS PIECE OF JUNK GONE!
If you search for "drop in savings" you will see what appears to be their website, but it has no contact info, and the "uninstall instructions" are invalid. It makes me livid that companies install their adware without permission, and make it so hard to get rid of.
Please help!

OK, I am pretty sure it is gone - apparently it was associated with something called Widgi Toolbar, found in the extensions catagory.

Hi,
Please check if this happens in Safe Mode. If the problem persists in safe mode, you can also try to Disable suspicious or all Plugins in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons.
Troubleshooting Extensions and Themes
Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually or collectively disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.
Please also see this. If the application was installed with another program and another name you may also have to check that in the Windows Programs and Features when uninstalling.
Thank you for your reply. I confirmed that DropInSaving$ is not there when Firefox in running in safe-mode. I don't know how to use that information, however. What does that tell you?
I find nothing on my computer whose name starts with dropin.
You provided a link to the DropInSaving$ site. Their uninstall instructions tell me to click tools|addons, but when I do that I see nothing by the name DropInSavings in either the list of extensions or plugins. Are those what is meant by add-ins, or are add-in something else?
What next?
If it is not present in safe mode, then it could be an Extension in Tools > Add-ons. The name could be entirely different and misleading. Add-ons is the collective name for the Extensions, themes (Appearance) and Plugins. Please note that some Extensions may also have a helper Plugin. You can try to find the correct Extension and try to Disable or Remove it
Likewise if it has a Plugin you can try to Disable. Removing the program from the Windows Programs and Features would also usually remove the Firefox Plugin. The name in Programs and Features also could be entirely different or it could have been installed with another completely different program. In that case you may have to look in the other program's options to disable the Firefox extras, or remove the other program.
