Bookmark behavior changed in 11.0?
My bookmarks used to open in a new tab automatically (just click on it). After the latest update to 11.0, when I click on a bookmark, it replaces the page I am viewing. How can I get the old behavior back? I cannot find any setting in either "options" or "tab mix plus" addon to fix this. I do not want to have to resort to the right-click context menu option. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies.
Since I am not trying to fix a default Firefox behavior, Safe Mode is of no use to me. So I did the next best thing... I disabled all addons EXCEPT Tab Mix Plus. I then double checked all of the settings under "events". They were all correct.
In theory, a single click on a bookmark ought to open the page in a new tab, but it still did not.
This doesn't seem to be caused by a conflict amongst addons, nor is it a problem with the default FF behavior. I guess that means Tab Mix Plus is the culprit. I'll go to their help forums and look for answers there.
Thanks again.

Firefox default behavior is to open a Bookmark or Link in the currently selected tab. On a Bookmark or Link, CTRL+left-click or right-click > "Open in New Tab"' or middle-click (press the mouse scroll wheel) should open the Bookmark or Link in a new tab.
In the options panel for Tab Mix Plus, look at Events > Tab Opening options.

Not related to your question, but...
You may need to update some plug-ins. Check your plug-ins and update as necessary:

Vivek.Wilfred:
The user indicated "I cannot find any setting in either "options" or "tab mix plus" addon to fix this" in the original post. The assumption is that TabMix Plus is installed and being used by the poster. TabMix Plus version 0.4.0, released February 7, 2012, included compatibility for Firefox 11; previous development version included Firefox 11 compatibility (I use development versions of TabMix Plus).
If there are multiple tab-related (or other) Add-ons that may conflict with one another, then:
- Use Firefox Safe Mode to find a problem with an Extension or Plugin:
- Don't check anything when entering Safe Mode, just continue
- If the problem does not occur in Safe Mode it is probably an Extension or Plugin causing the problem

"Since I am not trying to fix a default Firefox behavior, Safe Mode is of no use to me."
- Safe Mode was suggested "If there are multiple tab-related (or other) Add-ons that may conflict with one another, then:"
- You have basically done the same thing by disabling all other Extensions
"I guess that means Tab Mix Plus is the culprit. I'll go to their help forums and look for answers there."
I use the development build of TaxMix Plus (ver. 0.4.0.1pre.120313a, currently) and Bookmarks do open with a left-click on on Bookmark if you have the setting shown in the image below checked.
If you do get a solution on the TabMix Plus forum, please post the solution here for the benefit of other users. Thanks.

Issue resolved.
I removed Tab Mix Plus from FF, ran CCleaner, rebooted, then re-installed TMP and everything works as it should.
Thanks again for the advice.
Could you take a few minutes to explain what exactly corrected the problem.
- Do you feel that running CCleaner was the key? What exactly did you clear with CCleaner?
- Do you feel that uninstalling and reinstalling TMP is what resolved the issue?
- Was the procedure that you used suggested on another forum or another site? If so, could you post the link?
Any information that you can supply may help us in assisting any other users with the same problem.
Thanks.
If I had to guess, I would say the uninstall/reinstall of TMP did the trick.
I ran CCleaner more out of force of habit than anything else... that step is more for fixing a program/utility/app that just didn't install right and is acting up (I should note that I am talking about running the Registry repair function, not the Cleaner function of CCleaner). I would usually follow this up by hunting down the program's settings/data folder in appdata and deleting it, but TMP is an just addon and keeps its settings in about:config so it doesn't have one.
These are just some standard steps I take when something is malfunctioning and I can't fix it in a more conventional way.
I think that when I updated TMP after installing FF11.0 TMP just didn't install fully/correctly. As for why that happened..? I do not know.
Thanks for the feedback.
I am also a long time user of CCleaner to regularly clear the trash from my system. I was just curious about your procedure as I could not understand how CCleaner might have helped; as you said, all of TMP's settings are in prefs (about:config) and it stores nothing outside of your Profile folder.
Happy that your problem is resolved.
