am running latest stable end-user Firefox (I think 12) on Mac OSXOS X Snow Leopard.

already open tabs are accessible, web navigation works fine in those tabs, CMD-T opens a new tab that works fine, etc.... but when I try to access a menu bar drop-down menu (e.g. About to get the Firefox version number) no menu options pull down... no error message of any kind, just no response.

Try to repair the disk permissions:

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "~/Library/Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist)

Thanks much, have started giving these a try. Disk permissions didn't help, will try plist deletion next.

You can also try to uninstall (trash) the current Firefox version and reinstall Firefox.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.
