When I open Firefox, iTunes selections start playing with multiple tracks playing simultaneously. iTunes is not even open. How do I fix this?

When I open Firefox, it is generally about five seconds before a track starts playing out of nowhere, followed in succession by a second and a third track. The first track I recognize as one of my music tracks in iTunes, the second I can't say where it comes from - it is a woman's voice repeating "preview"over and over, and the third track I recognize as a podcast that I downloaded in iTunes. Some weird conflict between Firefox and iTunes is going on. I really want my Firefox back in working order. I miss it!

I'm not sophisticated enough at computers to know how to try disabling plugins and addons. I don't even know what they are. Any chance you could help me understand?
