Firefox crashes
Hello!
My browser keeps crashing randomly and I would appreciate some help...
I have all the latest system updates, antivirus updates and have scanned my system for all possible problems, but this has not revealed or fixed the problem.
I have had this problem with Firefox 12.0 and Firefox 13.0 (to which I upgraded hoping to resolve the issue). Firefox 12.0 was a clean/fresh install on Windows XP.
I am using ESET SmartSecurity 5 and Windows XP Firewall. Firefox is configured for use with both firewalls. Removing any installed browser extensions or disabling them had no effect on the random crashes.
My system details are:
- Mozilla Firefox 13.0.1 (with all updates installed)
- Microsoft Windows XP (with Service Pack3)
- ESET SmartSecurity 5
- McAfee SiteAdvisor
- Windows Live Essentials
My Firefox 13.0.1 browser extensions are:
- McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.4.1.195 (ENABLED)
- CheckPlaces 2.6.2 (DISABLED)
- DownloadHelper 4.9.9 (DISABLED)
- Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 0.0.0 (DISABLED)
- Mozilla hotfix 2.0 (DISABLED)
Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. - This same problem also affect my laptop running on Windows 7. I have been unable to fix that as well.

Thanks for the reply madperson.
Disabling the VLC Media Player plugin certainly reduced the number of crashes. Plus, removing the DownloadHelper plugin has made my browser more stable. I also noticed that the changes seem to work better on PCs with Windows 7.
Thanks again for the help.... -sweckform2
