Does not save Saved Password Editor says double-entry
Hello,
althouth the password has not been saved, the extension always claims cannot add, because already added. But I have not. The normal Mozilla Firefox option to save passwords does not work either, although not in private mode. Started with 14.0. :-( What can I do?

Hi ConnyC, what extension are you referring to?
I see your earlier question about the built-in password feature: .
I assume you tried these articles:
- Intended behavior: Password manager - Remember, delete, change and import saved passwords in Firefox
- Troubleshooting: Usernames and passwords are not saved
When looking in your current profile folder, you should see these files relevant to passwords: signons.sqlite and key3.db. To see whether Firefox can read these files, try viewing your saved passwords here:
orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Security > "Saved Passwords"
If you know you have saved logins and that dialog isn't getting filled in, there might be a problem with those files.
I did read all that. It seems the signons.sqlite ist defect. I installed new version first with old signon - then it was faulty again. When using the virgin signon it was perfect, now I am printing out old pw list and then will retype again, when needed. I know no other solution.
Did you try to export the passwords to an XML file in the old profile assuming that you used the Saved Password Editor extension?
If all passwords are in the file then you can probably import them or edit the XML to remove the duplicate.

since 14.0/1 firefox no longer stores passwords. I tried to install new profile, but it did not work either. What can I do? I do not have the signon.txt files. The key3.db and the signons.sqlite. What can I do? What could be the the bad file that needs to be replaced. I am not in private mode either.
It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.
