Some extensions disable themselves on launch

Since my update to FF 14, some of my add-ons seem to "halt" on launch. There is simply no trace of them working. In the Add-ons Manager, however, the extensions in question (most notably Adblock Plus, Reddit Enhancement Suite and Tabs Always In Titlebar) Show up as enabled, but if I try to bring up their options menu, I am greeted with a blank page.

Moreover, if I hit "disable" on one, the "restart to save changes" text flashes briefly, and then disappears. The add-on now shows up as (Disabled). If I then hit "Enable" on one of the now disabled add-ons, the "save changes" text again flashes briefly, and after this the add-on starts functioning normally.

To combat these problems, I have tried Resetting Firefox, as well as deleting extensions.sqlite and the other extensions files. None of this helped.

Any help?

I think your update process busted your Firefox profile - resetting Firefox won't do any good, but creating a clean profile will for sure -

Please consider this as an option: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows

Note: Please keep in mind that a new profile will not keep your installed add-ons and you might want to consider installing them again.

Hope it helps! Please come back if it does not.

I thought that creating a clean profile was what the Reset feature did?

This Support article states "If you are having a problem with Firefox then sometimes, rather than trying to find and fix the exact cause of the problem, it is easier just to make a new Firefox profile and copy your most important data over to it. The Reset Firefox feature will do this for you automatically."

Yes, a reset creates a new profile, but also tries to import data from the old profile as indicated.

A new profile doesn't do this, so this is one step further.

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some security software does have virtualization features that can cause problems by protecting and restoring files in the Firefox profile folder.
