I clicked on option to upgrade to FF 14, since prompt kept showing up, and it attempted to install, unsucessfully, and now I don't even have the old previous version. My old FF icon has a white "Do Not" symbol line through it and the statement "FF application unable to be launched --10661", whatever that means. My Mac uses OS X 10.4.11 Tiger and the FF was (probably) 3.6.28 but since I can't launch it I can't confirm its version info. How can I retrieve prev version and all my bookmarks, etc, etc.?

Chosen solution

1. Download (with your safari) a copy of the latest (3.6.28) from your 10.4.11 mac

 from
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.28/mac/

2. Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean install.

3. Install the version that you have downloaded (3.6.28).

Do not select to remove your personal data, your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks or other personal data.

after install the 3.6.28 version go to: Options > Advanced > Update tab > Firefox updates, check mark Never check for updates (not recommended: security risk), click Ok to save it, exit firefox and restart it.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/settings-network-updates-and-encryption#w_update-tab

BUT REMEMBER firefox 3.6.28 is unsupported

see Switch to the TenFourFox web browser in the next link : Firefox no longer works with Mac OS X 10.4 or PowerPC processors

(try it, it is a good option for ppc mac)

thank you

You can still get the old Firefox 3.6.28 at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html and not have to use the not mirrored ftp.
