I use Firefox everyday, especially for my college course work and forums. I do most of my work in my word program, and then paste it. In the past couple of updates from Firefox, this option has been removed. COPY/ CUT/ PASTE do not work, and I need them to. I tried to follow your instructions on finding the profile data and changing it, however I am not a programer and feel very uncomfortable trying to do this, plus the support page that lists doing this, you cannot decipher what to type in. I would appreciate someone helping me restore this in my browser, as I like Firefox tremendously, and do not want to go back to IE. However, if this cannot be addressed and fixed, I will be forced to.

Try resetting Firefox. This will change all the settings back to the defaults while keeping things like your bookmarks and passwords. More info and instructions here - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Hi Verdi,

I tried what you suggested. Although it did not fix the problem with my copy/paste, it did however change my buttons etc.

still do not have the ability to copy paste any text. Thank you for the suggestion.

I had the problem and I had to disable all mouse gestures and then restart Firefox and then i could use the left and right mouse buttons to highlight, copy and paste as normal.

I have the same problem for my college course. I can use copy and paste normally on other sites, but to use it on the college Moodle I would have to add the site to my Mozilla preferences. I have tried but cannot do this. When I follow the instructions and try to open Mozilla in my programme files I either get a new Mozilla window or the option to delete the programme. So I cannot follow the instructions as I can't get to the required file to add the long string of letters and symbols required. There is no indication in Extras or in Help so I am unable to add long contributions on the Moodle. Any ideas please?

I've copied and pasted the instructions I get from Mozilla below, but I cannot follow them.

To protect users' private information, unprivileged scripts cannot invoke the Cut, Copy, and Paste commands in the Mozilla rich text editor, so the corresponding buttons on the Mozilla Rich Text Editing demo page will not work. To enable these functions for purposes of the demo, you must modify your browser preferences. Changing the preferences in Firefox

   Quit Firefox. If you have Quick Launch running (on Windows, this is an icon in the toolbar), quit that too.
   Find your Firefox profile directory.
   Open the user.js file from that directory in a text editor. If there's no user.js file, create one.
   Add these lines to user.js:
   user_pref("capability.policy.policynames", "allowclipboard");
   user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "https://www.mozilla.org");
   user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.cutcopy", "allAccess");
   user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.Clipboard.paste", "allAccess");
   Change the url https://www.mozilla.org to the site for which you want to enable this function.
   Save the file and restart Firefox. The Clipboard buttons should now function.

Note: The preference is site as well as protocol specific. For example:

user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "http://www.mozilla.org")

is not the same as:

user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites", "https://www.mozilla.org")

This is because the first uses HTTP while the second uses HTTPS.

If you want to allow multiple URLs to access the Paste operation, separate the URLs with a space. For example:

user_pref("capability.policy.allowclipboard.sites",

"https://www.mozilla.org https://developer.mozilla.org")
