I read the advice concerning email links which wouldn't open in Firefox and I reset to the default as suggested. I seem to have "lost" all my downloads ?

Hi, I had problems with links in emails not opening their web pages when I clicked them. I read some of the help info and decided to reset Firefox to its default setting. I realised afterwards that my "Downloads" had been removed. Is there any way to restore these as they are all related to Internet Marketing items I have downloaded such as plugins, ebooks, scripts etc. etc.?? I am working in Windows XP I have looked in the folder which was automatically established by Firefox on reset but I can't find them in there! Any suggestions please? Regards Trevor

The Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article explains the feature and tells you how get your old settings and data back from the "Old Firefox Data" folder that should have been placed on your desktop. It sounds like you want to restore the old downloads.sqlite file, which saves a list of files you have downloaded. To restore this file, copy it from the "Old Firefox Data" folder to your current Firefox profile folder and let the old file replace the new one. See Copying files between profile folders for instructions.

By the way, if you are looking for the actual files you downloaded in Firefox, you should still have them stored on your computer, in the "Downloads" folder you are using for Firefox (you can check your Downloads folder settings in the Firefox Options window - General panel). The Downloads window just points to them. For more information, see:

Dear Alice, Thank you very much for your guidance. Once I had some peace in my office I followed your instructions with a positive result!! I am much relieved as I had lots of downloads, some of which I had paid for. Thanks once again. Best regards Trevor Barlow
