I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 with Windows 7 and when I go install firefox it seems like it is downloading but then nothing comes up after. How can I fix this?
I have checked my installed programs and it never shows up there either. I have checked my security settings and reset all back to default and still nothing. It shows it downloading and then extracting files but after that nothing shows up. I am having the same problem with google chrome, and opera... I need a different browser for online schooling.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try some of the following programs to scan for malware:
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Microsoft Security Essentials (A good permanent anti-virus if you don't already have one)
Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is otherwise interfering with downloading files.
Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading and installing work.
