FF 18 crashes when I close more than 1 tab, it doesn't happen in safe mode, but even when I disable all shown plugins, extensions etc the problem occurs.
I went through the steps on the Mozilla help page, checked theme is default, unticked hardware acceleration, disabled plugins and extensions. FF still crashes when I close a 2nd tab. I can close one tab.

Thank you to the posters who took their time to reply to me. I asked this question on a message board and one of the posters gave me the problem fix. Evidently it was a conflict between Norton and FF18. I upgraded my Norton (we have a 3 year subscription so it was free) to version 20.0.2.19 (the latest version) and everything runs like clockwork!

Please provide us with crash ids;
1. Click the Windows Start button, and select Run... on Windows XP or press Windows Key + R on Windows Vista/7. Type in "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted" including the quotation marks and click OK.
2. In the resulting folder will be a text file for each crash report you have submitted. Using the View menu, arrange them by date to find out which is the newest file; and double-click on it to open it.
3. Report back to us with the latest crash ids.
You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled
- the default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored
- the default toolbar layout is used
- the Javascript JIT compiler is disabled
- hardware acceleration is disabled
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me, feer56

Yes Soozn, your crashes are caused by Norton confidential as can be seen from the signature of the crash report: [@ coffplgn.dll@0x3714 ]
Hi skipper386
I'm not sure about your crash report:
Did you try some basic steps like Firefox safe mode?
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled
- the default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored
- the default toolbar layout is used
- the Javascript JIT compiler is disabled (seems to be involved in your crash)
- hardware acceleration is disabled
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
