For example this page I am now working on is simply text with some text in blue, no graphics on page and an empty black and white bar at the top of the page under Ask a Question

Chosen solution

I changed the desktop theme and fiddled about with the display settings (not sure what I did) and everything is OK now. Thank you for your help.

You may have overridden the browser style defaults or put the browser into high contrast mode. This entry may be of help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/675979

Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings and that you allow pages to choose their colors in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"

I do not have the entries specified in the answer. Under Appearance I found default but there does not appear any way to implement it.

I have checked and the allow page to chose colours is already checked. I restarted Nightly and got the same display.
