This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Well followed instructions and the following ad-0n are displayed & disabled as expected: Data Mgr 1.0 (incompatible) MS.net framework assistant search-results toolbar Total Defense (incompatible) Troubleshooter

I realize What I did not mention was when the bookmark window opens and I hit down arrow and get several folders there is no scroll button.

You do click the second arrow button at the far right side of the Folder line (i.e. not the one in the folder field)?

I did that. I think we might have a problem in that we are communicating on one computer (Desk top running XP) and the problem is on another computer (laptop running Vista). I think I might have been researching the problem on the desktop (I much prefer XP) so I initiated this dialogue there and I believe I got A quick screen (it disappeared but I thought it was sending program specs) that might have given you bad info.
