How do I make flash, silverlight, and shockwave click to activate

more options

I have the current version of these plugins but I would like them to be push to activate. Flash/Shockwave is constantly causing me issues when I have 10 - 20 tabs open. I would like to make all flash/shockwave/silverlight content push to activate. How do I do this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chosen solution

If you'd like to enable Firefox's experimental Click-to-Play feature,

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
  2. Press the big button to bypass the warning.
  3. In the search box, paste plugins.click_to_play
  4. In the search results, double-click plugins.click_to_play to set its value to true

Notes

  • You can set certain sites to always load plug-ins without prompting by typing about:permissions in the address bar and pressing Enter. For details, read the article on the Permissions Manager.
  • If you change your mind, repeat the above steps, but at the last step right-click plugins.click_to_play and choose Reset.
  • The Flashblock extension is an alternative that provides similar functionality.
