Hi there,

Hmm, that could be some sort of malware, yes. I see that you're running Firefox 20.0.1, so you should definitely not get notifications to upgrade to 5.0.1 since that's an unsupported and outdated version.

Yuo say that you see this at the top of your screen, do you mean outside of the Firefox browser window? If so, this is most likely malware. Are you running any antivirus or anti-spyware protections, such as Microsoft's own Microsoft Security Essentials? It would definitely be worth doing a thorough scan on your computer to see if you can find any malicious things on there.

Thanks! I see now that it is called software updater and looks as if it was from MS. I will run my antivirus program from Norton to (hopefully) deal with it. Cheers! jan
