Cannot stop random ads from popping up with audio when I am on Youtube. Irritating and removing cookies doesn't help.

Every time I go to my Youtube account and watch my own videos or others an audio (I guess 3rd party) pop up video loudly interrupts with an ad. I've searched the internet and done all the cache emptying and cookie dumping and I have not added any add-ons and it continues to occur. How do I stop this. It is ruining any enjoyment I get from playing a video.

Chosen solution

As mentioned in the post, I had no add-ons. The audio and the video were to the side of the youtube I was trying to listen to. Apparently after 3 "clear caches" and 3 "empty cookies" the offending ads quit popping up. Bothers me that anyone could write such an intrusive ad and get it on the youtube site without repercussions. It is solved, but not with your answer. Please add this caveat.

Are these the "pre-roll" ads that YouTube is increasingly inserting before the videos, or separate ads that appear elsewhere on the page or in front of YouTube's player? Or do you mean the audio plays separate from any video on the page?

It is possible for other application to install extensions into Firefox, so if you haven't checked recently, it's worth a quick look here:

Tools menu > Add-ons > Extensions category

Go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ and search for pop-up or add blocking programs, While Firefox has a built in pop-up blocker, it could still use the extra help.
