Why does a new tab for surveygifters.com continue to open. Do I just need to stop using Firefox and go to Chrome?

Why am I getting all these advertising offers. When I try to open a new tab an advertising tab will open in it's place. I have gone to their websites and followed their instructions to opt out of them but it seems like another one will just take it's place. I'm ready to delete Firefox, which I have used for many years, and start using Chrome. I don't like it as much but all the advertising that keeps popping up is driving me crazy. Tell me how to stop them or I'm gone. I have been able to stop some of them but as I said another one just takes it's place. I'm sure this is just a way for Mozilla to make money off it's users but I've had enough.

hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by malware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

I had already done most of what you suggested. I had checked for toolbars, there were none and I had run Malwarebytes , it found nothing. I didn't see anything in the extensions but i deleted all but the 2 I use. I then restarted the laptop and so far it seems to be okay. I hope this solved the problem and thanks for your help. If not I'll be back!!
