Firefox consistently delays before a download
I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 with XFCE 4.10. Firefox version 20.0.
Whenever I try to download any files (eg, right-click and download, anything like that), there's a significant delay (~15 seconds). It doesn't matter how large the file is -- a 20kB file has a delay, and so does a 10MB file. I've tried clearing out the list of previously-downloaded files, but that didn't help.
It does it in Safe Mode, and it does it when I create a brand-new, blank profile. It's happening on two separate machines (my work desktop and my home laptop) that are running Ubuntu 12.10 with XFCE. It does not happen on my home Windows machine.
I also have Chromium installed on my work machine, but it doesn't have the same delay problem.
Any suggestions?

Try updating to Firefox 22 before further investigation. Update Firefox to the latest release
Firefox 20 is no longer supported
Still happening with Firefox 22.0
OK, I've updated to 22.0, and it's still happening. Next steps?
OK, it seems to have fixed itself. I applied a bunch of OS and other updates, and after a reboot it's no longer pausing prior to downloading.
