Hey, I had a network outtage from my ISP recently. After the network outtage firefox will not load either Google.com or Facebook.com It'll still load other sites correctly but these 2 are the only ones that will not load whatsoever. These pages DO load in Chrome and IE so even though I originally thought it might be a DNS issue after the ISP outtage. Steps I've taken so far to fix:

  • I've reinstalled Firefox.
  • I've reset FireFox to default settings.
  • I've attempt to FlushDNS in CMD.
  • I've even rolled back my computer to a previous image from before the outtage.
  • I've disabled my firewall settings temporarily to see if that helps.
  • I've ran Malware Bytes to scan for mailicous software.
  • I've run FireFox in safe mode to see if it loads the 2 affected pages.

None of the above has helped. I've resorted to using google chrome as my current browser, but I prefer Firefox because of some specific add-ons. (Note: I reinstalled FF so i have no addons currently)

Any help would be appreciated as I've exhausted anything I could find as a possible "solution" already. Thanks!

Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
