Is it possible to have a mode that the windows task bar is visible and all the firefox tool bars and the tabs are invisible. This would be great feature e g when I am working on online apps such as word and excel. May be semi full screen or full screen with options to make task bar visible. With this feature it would be more natural to work with online apps such as word , exel and many more growing list of online applications.

This won't work to hide the Tab Bat, but right-click a Toolbar and deselect the Bars that you want to hide. To get those Bars back again, just hit the Alt key to temporarily show the Menu Bar, then use View > Toolbars to turn those Bars back on again.

Thanks edmeister . but ! still

  1. still the tabs could not be hidden .
  2. can we assign all this to a function key eg F9 , so that when ever we press F9 all extra dissapear except the windows task bar .

May be we need an add on or can you direct me to develop such addon ,I would be glad if I could do that.

Check your INBOX at the top of this page for the Personal Message (PM) that I sent you about an extension for modifying the Full Screen mode.

Thanks edmeister , I was wondering, however, if this could be added as a feature of Firefox as I see that this would be required by many as the online apps grow. Is there some where to do a feature request for Firefox.

hello, if websites require that it would probably already be possible to do that through a web app, see https://hacks.mozilla.org/2013/10/progress-report-on-cross-platform-open-web-apps/

Yes, that could be added to Firefox.

I have exactly the opposite problem. I am stuck without a menu bar but with a task bar. I lost the task bar when I entered full screen as you would expect but when I exited fullscreen it didn't come back! Not only that but now I have to click out of firefox to get the dock. Why? How? What can I do to fix this?!
