If FireFox is "idle" for only a couple of minutes, it closes, forcing a "Restore Session"--deleting my work.
I have recently done a complete system restore (Win7 / 64-bit) and a fresh install of FireFox 25.0.
It is set to NOT sleep, hibernate, close screen, or shut down. At closed down a couple of times on it's own when I left it for a short time (<20 min), forcing me to click on "Restore Previous Session"..... but it would ring everything back up--with open work intact. As of yesterday, it has started closing itself if I am not actively using the mouse/keyboard in a matter of a few minutes---again forcing me to click to "Restore"....but now ALL WORK (whether on FB, taking an online test/quiz, and/or filling in forms online) is LOST. The Restore pulls up empty pages.... some open, some do not.
- Thanks so much* !!

...and, if a Firefox Reset doesn't help:
Try a clean reinstall of Firefox by first removing the program files. Note: You might want to print this or view it in another browser.
- Go to http://www.mozilla.org and click on the green download button (or get the full Windows installer for your language from this link) and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Mozilla Firefox installation folder, which is located here, by default, in 64-bit Windows. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Does that help?

Firefox is known to have issues after a Windows System Restore (ref.). Even though you reinstalled Firefox, the Firefox profile folder containing your personal data and customizations is not removed unless you specifically select that option when you uninstall Firefox.
I would first try a Firefox Reset first. See Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings. Does that help?

Thank you..... I did the reset... and did a fresh install of FireFox. It did help with the shutting down. But immediately I started getting "FireFox is not responding" error messages.... then "FireFox CRASH" window---which I submitted reports from. Anytime I would open a new window, the window would open 'blank'--I would have to "reload" to see the page with text/pics/info. THEN--the "Unresponsive SCRIPT"--close/wait boxes began. These are the most often seen--though not all: Script: https://fbstatic-a.akamaihd.net/rsrc.php/v2/yJ/r/m_tG5EVa4-J.js:55

I know FireFox blocks some Java... It was suggested that I remove & re-install the latest Java & FireFox-- I don't know what to do here !! Last night I TRIED 3x to do a Windows Backup, so I could do a fresh install of Win7... and it failed each time.
Thanks so much for your time... I do appreciate it !!
Your original question was about Firefox closing after being idle a few minutes, which you posted back in November 2013. Thanks for reporting that problem is now solved after a reset and clean reinstall. I'll mark my last answer as solving that problem.
On the new issue .... Firefox not responding and crashing ..... please start a new thread with current troubleshooting information. See Get community support or use this link:
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix in the new thread:
- bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
- You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website, or open the crash reports page via "Help > Troubleshooting Information".
