Chosen solution

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Hello,

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Do you get a large blank area? If so, do you see a "shield" icon in the address bar to the left of the address? If so, see this article about the mixed content blocker: Mixed content blocking in Firefox

Or if you see an icon that looks like a little piece of Lego, does it mention a blocked plugin?

Could you test inFirefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

yes ive done that as well. i tried again this am. some apps will open on FB but a lot will not. i also get this message a lot even on allowed pages: firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page....allow or ok.....i hit allow bc its pages i use on a regular basis

also when i logged on i got 2 error messages RUN DLL ??

more options

You can turn off the redirection warning. That's a checkbox in the options. See: Advanced panel - Accessibility, browsing, network, updates, and other advanced settings in Firefox.

Where do the RUN DLL error messages appear -- are they the kind of Windows dialogs that appear after an application crashes, or are they errors within Firefox?

Can you also try disabling all of your plugins except these three:

  • Adobe Acrobat 10.1.8
  • Java (TM) Platform SE...
  • Shockwave Flash 11.9...

To disable them, set them to "Never Activate".

Hi aorvis1108, does that DLL error come up when you start Firefox, or before you start Firefox? I'm not sure of the connection.

You might be able to learn more about the error in the Windows Event Viewer. This article describes how to do that:
