As soon as I updated firefox the line that tells you where what you typed will appear in a text box, will show up and sit there blinking. Anywhere, the backround, in other text, in links, in buttons. I have done a clean install of firefox twice with the only thing saved is my favorites.

Chosen solution

You may have switched on caret browsing.

You can toggle caret browsing on/off by pressing F7 (Mac: fn + F7).

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Accessibility: [ ] "Always use the cursor keys to navigate within pages"

Note that this is an accessibility feature of Firefox.
