Did something change in the last couple of days? A website I go to now is missing some graphics and fonts have changed. Opens OK in Internet Explorer.
Perhaps the website has sloppy coding, but it was working OK in the middle of last week. I help support the website, so, I can fix coding issues, but why would it open OK in Internet Explorer?
So, it's missing all the graphics and font sizes in two side menus is about double in size.
Thanks!

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
Also, in case you haven't tried this: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum/default font size then try the default minimum setting "none" and the default font size 16 in case the current setting is causing problems.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
Make sure that you haven't enabled a High Contrast theme in the Windows/Mac Accessibility settings.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
Note that these settings affect background images.

Nice! Thanks!
The reset of the Cache and the Cookies did the trick!
You guys and gals are awesome!
Wayne.
OK, I spoke too soon! The problem is back and won't clear up with the above solutions that worked before.
On my other computer, the problem showed up there when I upgraded to the latest version of FireFox. So, it has something to do with the new version. Perhaps I should downgrade?
So far, none of the suggestions above are working on either computer. I'll keep plugging away at it, but if you have any ideas, I would appreciate any insight!
Wayne.
If you check your upgrade history, what version/build does it show you were running previously? This is displayed on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the Application Basics table, click the Show Update History button.
If the problem part of the site can be viewed without an account, could you post the address?
Good thought about the upgrade history. The one that comes up is: Firefox 24.2.0esr (20131205180928) Security Update. Unfortunately, I just installed that today to see what, if any, improvement it would make. So, I don't know what the update was just before that one, as the history only shows that one update.
Also, unfortunately, the web page is behind a big business firewall on a private intranet server, so, you won't be able to get to it.
I haven't checked, but is it easy to go back a level? I might try that next as a test on my Windows XP system. We have other Linux based computers that show the text and images on the web page OK, but they are running a really, really old version of Firefox for Linux.
Thanks for your attention!
Could you check with your IT on whether this is a known issue with Firefox 24 ESR? I don't want to recommend changes that might contravene your internal policies, but... if you can download other software, you could test the site in the last of the Firefox 17 ESR series in a self-contained portable format that won't affect your Registry or existing settings. That can be found here:
Mozilla Firefox ESR, Portable Edition 17.0.9 at SourceForge.net
You can install it into your downloads folder, or some other convenient location.
Do you see any error messages in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Ctrl+Shift+K) that could explain these issues?
Now, I didn't know about the Web Console. That's the most useful tool there!
OK, so I look at the Web Console and it has an error in the CSS category for finding the end of file while searching for the end of comment in an old version of a screen.css file.
When I update that .css file, everything pops back to normal. Images are back, fonts are the right size and everything. Odd how Internet Explorer would work OK with that error but not Firefox... For now, I'll see how long it stays working.
Anyway, thanks a bunch for the tip with the Web Console. I'll be using that more with any other web pages I help on!
Thanks again, everyone!
Wayne.
