mail is crazy slow. McAfee and carbonite with gmail account
I just sent a question about my email being at a crawl. The acknowledgement I received from you is from Firefox. I use Thunderbird. My email is crazy slow. I went to auto compact and changed the settings (2 places) to 1..it didn't help. I am going nuts

mcafee anti virus and carbonite back up
I am reading from other posts that mcafee may be the issue...if I follow the instructions posted yp another person asking a similar question do I disable anti spam thunderbird extension thru mcafee security center?..thanks
This question would be better asked of McAfee. It is their software and this support forum is for Thunderbird. Not everyone uses McAfee or is familiar with what their menu structure looks like.
McAfee is well aware of the problems their software causes with email clients. It is well discussed on the McAfee forums.
P.S. Apologies for the notification subject line referring to Firefox. Thunderbird was added to this forum recently and it's taking a while for all the different bits and pieces to get updated.
sue55, did disabling McAfee solve your problem?
it helped but has not really solved the problem totally..it turns out my gmail was being stored on gmail site and not my own so back up was useless..I have had changes made so my gmail ..it is so slow if left for along ..it is as if it needs to warm up before the system moves at anything but a crawl
FWIW, the problem is most likely McAfee, carbonite or being subscribed to gmail's All Mail folder - or all three.
