How do I go about saving a Face Book picture to my desk top like I could with IE?

more options

My OS is XP. When I used IE, I could save a Face Book picture to my desk top. Since I've migrated to Firefox for my browser, I do not know how to do this. Can you please tell me the way to do this, if possible?

Chosen solution

In some cases, there will be an Options menus below the full size image that allows you to download it. (Screen shot example attached.)

If that isn't present, you could try right-clicking it and looking for Save Image As. If the picture is behind another element (such as a navigation overlay), that may not work.

Then you could try the Page Info dialog, Media panel. Either:

  • right-click > View Page Info > Media
  • Tools menu > Page Info >Media

Click in the list of images and arrow down, keeping an eye on the preview window, until the picture you want comes into view. Then click the Save As button.

If Facebook is an especially difficult site, someone might have created an add-on to make it easier to save pictures. Is it worth seeking out? I don't know, I suppose it depends on how often you need to do this.
