Help!! I use Thunderbird for my work email. It has started to run so slow that it can take me 20 minutes just to send 1 email. It also keeps freezing and keeps downloading old emails from my archived files. The slowness & freezing mostly happens when it starts downloading the old messages. I have deleted all old emails except for all sent & received from 2014. Unfortunately i did not realize that I had to compact messages & never did so until I started having issues about 1 month ago. I now compact daily. I also installed Mozbackup and backed up my info because I uninstalled & reinstalled Thunderbird. This unfortunately did not fix the issue. What can I do to fix this??!!

I think that solved my problem. All I had to do was Uncheck Email attachments under Real Time Scanning in McAfee. Thanks so much!!!

The same exact problem started to happen again. Last time I fixed it by disabling email attachments under Realtime Scanning in Mcafee. I checked and it is still disabled. The only suggestion I was unable to do in the above link was disable scanning of Thunderbird files and folders because I'm not computer savvy enough to do it. How exactly can I disable scanning and what else can I do to fix this issue?

Not using McAfee here, so I have no idea. Please check with McAfee support or ask in a McAfee forum.

I turned off Real Time scanning and the problem seems to have stopped. So it is Mcafee. Thanks for the info:)
