When you install an application on an iOS device, some functionality may be restricted by the operating system. In order to access these functions, applications ask for specific permissions. For each permission, a brief description is included to explain what it can be used for. To install an app, you must acknowledge that you're aware of what the software is capable of by giving iOS your permission. For example, when you visit a website that requires a specific function, such as taking or uploading a picture or finding your location, iOS will ask you for permission before it performs that function.

Firefox Klar functions and permissions
When an application needs to access any function or permission, you will be notified and prompted to accept or decline the request. Declining permissions only affects the specific feature or web page you are currently using, it does not block the remainder of Firefox Klar’s functionality:
- Your location (GPS location): GPS location is used only when you choose to share your location with a website. This does not share your location with Mozilla and Firefox. Klar never shares it with a website without your permission. Learn more about Firefox Klar's location controls.
- Location (GPS): Websites you visit may request your location. Klar only uses location when app is in use.
- Take pictures and videos: When a web page asks you to upload an image, you may choose to take a picture with your device's built-in camera, but you need to grant this permission first. If a site wants to use your microphone for communication, you may choose to allow that too. A website using WebRTC may request this permission.
- Camera Usage: This lets you take and upload photos and videos.
- Photo Library: (Save/Upload): This lets you save and upload photos.
- Microphone: This lets you take and upload audio.
- Face ID: Users can protect their saved login information either with a passcode or by using Apple’s biometric authentication. If a user opts to turn on FaceID, this permits authentication without Mozilla saving the password locally or remotely.
Firefox Klar data collection
Firefox Klar for iOS collects the following information to understand how users interact with Firefox Klar:
- Technical Data: We may receive basic information about your device and Klar, such as what version of the Klar app you have installed, your operating system, basic information about crashes and errors, and your system timezone and your system's language and region settings.
- Interaction Data: We receive information about how often you use Klar and interact with certain features or prompts. This includes information such as when you start a new browsing session, how often you use search or launch an external browser from Klar, and which features in the Settings screen are enabled. We do not collect information about the content you browse or the sites that you visit.
- Search suggestions: If enabled, Firefox Klar sends search queries to your search provider to help you discover common phrases other people have searched for and improve your search experience. These data will not be sent if your selected search provider does not support search suggestions.
