All of a sudden my Apple laptop Firefox is responding VERY slowly. It takes about 10 seconds from hitting enter to any screen response. I've tried it with and without my VPN on, and there's been no changes to my Avast security software (that I know of). I've reviewed the settings/preferences without any clue about what is happening and what I could do to minimize it. I've run a speed check which resulted in 287 down and 190 up, so it's definitely NT my network.

Firefox, as of less than an hour ago, is no longer saving tabs on close. This was also proceeded (After the first instance of this happening) by Firefox enabling the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" setting (Privacy & Security -> Cookies and Site Data) all on its own (Also did this on my laptop a day or 2 ago). I have since uninstalled & reinstalled it almost 5x. Doesn't matter what settings I change. Doesn't matter if I'm logged in or not. It will not save them. Ever.

I have history set to not delete anything. I have the most obvious setting enabled (Startup -> Open previous windows and tabs). It still doesn't save them. Even after the reinstalls.

I have not changed my settings in over a month. The only difference between months ago, and now, is browser updates, and an extension I installed but didn't even have Enabled.

Including the issue with the browser not defaulting to the last folder that was downloaded into with the "Ask where to download" setting enabled. But that's an inconvenience. It's not making the browser virtually unusable like not having my tabs saved.

Dear Sir/Madam I am unable to reach Jiohotstar website since last three days. The same site is accessible through Microsoft Edge and Chrome browsers. I also tried through Firefox browser on a different machine but could not succeed. I have cleared all the cookies and cache as well but it was of no use. Firefox is running with the latest version. Since FF35, using linux with e26wm, the title bar is gone. Screen seems to be stuck in full setting - F11 just shows/hides top right min/max/exit toggles. Min/max doesn't work. Going to customize toolbars, title bar option is there and checked but the option itself looks like it is grayed out (lighter color). Screen cannot be resized. I am used to a menu accessed via rt. click on the title bar but that is gone (I do have access to that menu with combo alt/rt-clk anywhere on screen - see below). That menu had a shade option (window shade like) which I used extensively but thats gone. If I click alt-rt click anywhere on the screen, I can get my missing control menu back without the shade option but with a borderless option checked which cannot be changed. I am fully aware that linux + E26 is kinda out there but have been all over my settings (includes border settings which firefox ignores). I can't find any permission settings on config/js/pref files which may be a cause. Thing is, mozilla thunderbird's screens work and title bar is in place with desired menu, etc. as do all other apps except ms edge, which leads me to feel it is a firefox setting somewhere and I believe it is the side thingy that everyone seems to love in chromium/chrome might be the cause - the tabs on top option which I don't have an interest in. Sorry for the length here but I'm at my wits end and all a google search offers (here as well) is to go customize etc. etc. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated - been using FF on linux since day 1 without any problems I couldn't figure out till now.

Using Firefox 136.0 and previous vers. Some web pages are displayed in portrait mode. (or seem to be) In Firefox these pages are??? not right. If I copy and paste url to MS Edge the page displays properly even although the presentation is still in portrait mode (or seems to be). i.e. the data displayed on the page does not go out to the edges of the screen but sits in the middle in portrait mode for example see: https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

Since the settings haven't given that option for years, the best way to have a local file as the new tab page was using autoconfig.cfg + autoconfig.js, as described in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1251199 But since the most recent update (v136.0), this stopped working.

The New Tab Override add-on has its own issues with using local files (can only load a .html file, no local CSS/JS, can't give a blank address bar for me to search in), so it doesn't solve the issue either.

This is very important to me, and others have been asking for this feature back for years. It feels awful to have the working solution stop working, in the browser that's supposed to be open and customizable.

The Discord website does not play embedded video files (mov, mp4, etc). This is an issue specific to Firefox, and is not present in other browsers such as Chrome. This issue is only for video files and not embeds from sites such as Youtube or Twitter/X. Furthermore, when downloading these videos, they play solely the audio and not the video part of it. This is not an issue with any other downloaded video. I have tried clearing my cache and restarting Firefox, as well as disabling my extensions. None of which has worked.

When I restart the system after a refresh or after shutting down, Mozilla takes FOREVER to connect/load webpages. (I can get on-line immediately after a reboot using Chrome, however). It is extremely frustrating as I have to leave the system on a webpage all day long and over-night so as not to have to go through the hassle of trying to get it to connect after an absence. Even when Mozilla requests I re-start for an update, it still takes forever. what is causing this and how can I fix it? Be advised, I'm not a computer whizz so please explain in non-tech talk. I've been using the firefox pdf viewer for quite some time and it's worked quite well. Within the last few days though I've developed an issue.

When I open a pdf it opens correctly for just a brief second (standard text, white background, nothing unusual) and then switches to something like the attached image (black background/ text and such). I have not changed anything that I'm aware of, though I did just recently install a new firefox update (136.0 64-bit windows 11). I didn't notice any articles or comments about this particular issue here yet, so figured I'd ask for some help.

Anyone know how to resolve this? Or other things I should look into?

I was using the control key with single word urls, like "nfl," as a shortcut to go to nfl.com. That had been working until the most recent update, albeit with a right-click menu appearing after Firefox opened the desired page. Now, when I hold the control key with the location bar active, Firefox brings up the right-click menu without going to the desired page. For example, if I enter nfl.com and hit ctrl-enter, the browser stays on the current page and brings up the right-click menu even though I'm not clicking the mouse. Is this a bug or new behavior. (Note: I have Firefox set to autocomplete only bookmarks.)

Hello, I have restarted my laptop only to find that my previous session was not retriavable anymore, so I went to my History and to my utter surprise it was gone. Years of history deleted. Could you help me understand what on Earth just happened?!?!?! Thanks in advance

For many years now I've had Firefox clear

• browsing & download history
• temporary cached files and pages
• saved form info

but not

• cookies and site date
• site settings

This worked flawlessly until Firefox updated to version 136, at which point all cookies were deleted and I was signed out of every account on every website.

Looking at the settings page, the option to delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed is now enabled. I don't remember what this setting used to look like, but I did not change it recently.

Unchecking the box seems to work, but I shouldn't suddenly have to do this, and the "damage" is done.

Why did the update to version 136 sign me out of every website, and how do I protect myself against this happening again?

I have a question to the Firefox Snap permissions. I want to give Firefox the minimum of permissions which you can grant via Settings => Apps => Firefox Web Browser, because of security reasons.

So, a lot of them are self-explanatory, but there are some where I can’t imagine what that means and whether Firefox really needs such permission to run correctly and save or not. These are the following:

- Run in Background - Detect network devices using mDNS/DNS-SD - system-files - gsettings - Access hardware information - Mount-control - login-session-observe - opengl - system-packages-doc - Read/write access to U2F devices exposed - Access energy usage data

So, my question is: Does Firefox really need one of these above permissions to run correctly and save (I am asking because I don’t know if some of the above permissions are for security reasons activated) or can I turn them off?

Recently, whenever I access a local TV stations news post and try to read it, I get the pop-up shown in the attachment. Why is it happening and what can I do to eliminate it?

My Firefox window keeps expanding to fill the entire computer desktop. I make it smaller, and it expands again. How can I fix this? I like to be able to adjust the size of the window manually and have it stay that way!

For the past few days when I use Firefox and Thunderbird my entire screen will randomly start to flicker, at times very quickly and rarely the entire screen goes black for second or two. This behavior immediately stops when I close the app. It does not happen with any other app. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox and that didn't help. Both apps are on the latest version and I also updated my video driver. Tried removing the two add-ons I have. I'm on Windows 11 Firefox 136.0.
