Is there a setting in Thunderbird that ensures all email attachementsto sent and received emails are stored locally and can be opened without access to the web?
I want to use Thunderbird to download all messages and attachments for an email address that will soon be superseded and not available to me in the medium term. But emails without attachments would be of little use.
Hence I want to be able to use Thunderbird to open past emails and their attachments without accessing the email account once it is closed.
If I download all emails before I close the old email address, will I be able to open the attachmnets when the account with the old email address is closed?
What would the be the best approach and correct settings in Thunderbird to achieve this?

Hi, I am looking to have the order of the emails from a thread as descending, the new email at the top and older ones at the bottom.
This feature simple feature seems to be present and working very well on Android but it's absent on Windows, anyone knows a proven fix as there isn't much online?
I know there is a workaround to have Unthreaded set and sort by descending which seem to work but this means the threads disappear and this makes it even harder to track related emails.

When sending an e-mail, I created a jpeg file as a signature and saved this jpeg file as a signature. When I send an e-mail, this file is sent to the other party both under the text and as an attachment. How can I solve this?

Am now setting up events in the calendar. I can see how to tag events for a wide range of categories (too many perhaps), but is it possible to highlight events in different colours, please?
Outlook doesn't let you do this, but the Google calendar lets you mark them up in different block colours - v useful for showing at a glance which family members are involved in which events - a bit like the old-style office wall planners.

I want to build an extension, that will have a custom table shown, instead of the default one with Subject, Correspondents, Date, I would like to have for example, Name, User, Status. I've managed to add custom column, but i cannot remove the default ones. So my question is, is that even possible to do? Could i somehow create my own html or xul, that will be rendered in the threadPane view instead of the default one? Is there some kind of a function that i can access when im creating an extension.

I am running Thunderbird 128 (any version) on a Surface Pro 9 running Windows 11. After sleep/hibernate or going into energy-saving mode, TB hangs for a period of minutes. Eventually it comes back, but it can take 5-10 minutes.
I do not have this problem with TB 115 on the same machine, or TB 128 on other machines (e.g. running Windows 10 or Ubuntu). TB 115 on the same machine can take a few seconds to come back (longer than on my other machines), but that s OK.
I have the same expereince whether or not I am troubleshoot mode. I have created a new profile with no add-ons (and less acounts) and I have the same problem. I was wondering if it is something to do with the fact that I have 8000 folders, and somehow TB is hanging while it checks all the folders. That account is a fastmail IMAP connection, but I have experienced similar on a backup Microsoft Exchange account (again an IMAP connection) with similar number of folders.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, On mac OS, I configure the “read confirmation” request, and depending on the recipient I receive or not the read notification. For example, “@free.fr” addresses don't send me the confirmation, and the recipient isn't even asked for it. Is there a specific configuration to be made?

Have been trying to sync my google caledar with Thunderbird on my win 11 PC. Have two calendar registrated on Thunderbird. On the standar "calendar" the other is under my Gmail acount. If I recive an invitation from outside I can't chose to which calendar I want to ad the invitation to. But if I send from my own E-mail (not Gmail) via Outlook on the PC. Thunderbird gives me the option to chose to which calendar to ad the invitation to. I have open the Google calendar and copied the "shared link" from Google and tried to ad that when creating a new calendar in Thunderbird. But when pasting the link into URL place I'm asked for "PSW". But when typing my Gmail PSW it just anwers " not working..." Obviusly I'm missing something. So please, can anyone explain all nesessary steps needed in order to make a possible sync between google calendar and Thunderbird.

Thunderbird Problem: For many years I have been using the Thunderbird mail client currently in ver. 128.7.0esr (32 bit) on S.O. Windows 10 Home Update 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5487), 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. I have a couple of mail accounts, one of mine and one of my wife. My problem is that for a few days now (about 5 or 6 days) on the InBox folder of my account, only mine, I have not been able to compact the folder. When I try to compact it, the response message is always the following: <The Inbox folder on "my_account_name@gmail.com" cannot be compacted because it is not possible to write to it. Verify that you have enough disk space and have write privileges, then try again> On my disk the available space is 121 Gb on C: where the program with the InBox folders resides and 266 Gb where the data stored in custom folders resides. The write privileges are always the same, never changed, of Administrator. I have already tried the path of "repairing the folder" and re-indexing the folder, but without success. Al tentativo di compattarla il messaggio di risposta è sempre il seguente: <La cartella Posta in arrivo su "nome_mio_account@gmail,com" non può essere compattata in quanto non è possibile scriverci. Verificare di avere spazio su disco sufficiente e avere privilegi di scrittura, quindi riprovare> Sul mio disco lo spazio disponibile è di 121 Gb su C: dove risiede il programma con le cartelle InBox e di 266 Gb dove risiedono i dati archiviati in cartelle personalizzate. I privilegi di scrittura sono sempre quelli, mai cambiati, di Amministratore. Ho già tentato la strada della "riparazione della cartella" e della re-indicizzazione della cartella, ma senza successo. For years I had a search folder at the top of my folder pane. I forget where it was exactly but it was no more than 3rd from the top, possibly under "Inbox". Today it somehow disappeared. So I've re-created the search folder, but now it's in alphabetical position, which puts it near the bottom. I know I can rename it with something like "aaa" to move it up, but is there another way? I tried marking it as a Favorite, but the Favorite Folder pane just appears at the bottom - so no help. I'm using v. 128.7.1 esr 64 bit.

The title describes the problem. This is an old problem that seems to be triggered by something embedded in the email. Other emails print to PDF or the actual printer without a problem. For security reasons, I cannot attach the email in question as it involves money and account identification.
The email is a credit card reward certificate from Costco and generated by Citibank in case someone else has reported this specific problem.

Unread incoming messages are indicated by a little red dot within the Thunderbird logo icon in the Windows notification area. When operating with a Unified Inbox, opening those messages in the Unified folder does not always clear the red dot, nor does the unread message counter in the left pane always decrement properly. What it seems to take to reset things when this happens is to expand the Inbox tree and simply click on the account name associated with the unread message. Anyone else see this?
