If you’re using a shared device and don’t want Firefox to remember your passwords, you change your preferences in the settings.
We recommend that each person who shares a device should create a Mozilla account and sign out every time, to prevent their logins from being exposed.
You can also use a Primary Password for additional protection.
Disable all password saving
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and then select or , depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button and select .
- Click in the panel to the left.
- Scroll down to the Logins and Passwords section.
- Uncheck the box next to Ask to save logins and passwords for websites.

- Click in the panel to the left.
- Scroll down to the Passwords section.
- Uncheck the box next to Ask to save passwords.
Disable password saving for specific websites only
You can also configure Firefox not to save passwords for specific websites. To add these exceptions:
- In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click and then select or , depending on your macOS version.Click the menu button and select .
- Click in the panel to the left.
- Scroll down to the section.
- Check the box next to Ask to save logins and passwords for websites.
- Click
- Type the address of each website you don't want Firefox to save passwords, then click
Both http and https URLs for the website will be added to the exception list. . - You can use to remove the selected URL from the list, or to remove all exceptions.
