AVG says your server messed up my Verizon Yahoo email. The line that reads delete, move, not spam, more...does not load. I can see my email, I just cannot open
I just spent over 5 hours in computer share with AVG. They said your server messed up my email account. I can get to my email account, but the line that reads "delete, move, not spam, more" never loads...therefore, I cannot delete email or anything else. My email account is at verizon yahoo. I need access to my email for various reasons, one of them being I pay many bills online and my email account is where I get certification that the payment went through!! My email will work through IE, though. I do not want to utilize IE to see my email...I use Firefox for everything and it would be a pain in the butt to have to switch to IE to access my email. Not to mention, I loathe IE--it's like using WEBTV! It's soooooo slow.... [email address removed, please do not post sensitive information in a public forum] is my email...

So Safe Mode didn't make any difference?
To test how Firefox runs "uncustomized" on your system, could you do a two-minute experiment?
Create a new Firefox profile
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > Run:
firefox.exe -P
Don't delete anything here.
Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like TEST, and skip the option to choose a different folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
Does Yahoo work any better in the new profile?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button on TEST. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

Did the support person have you do the usual:
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove your Yahoo.com cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Any improvement?
In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).
Any difference?
I'm not sure if this is relevant to Verizon customers, but AT&T customers whose email is through Yahoo have encountered problems with their old bookmarks (or old home page addresses) where Yahoo isn't redirecting Firefox to the latest server correctly, so some parts of the mail site randomly break.
To make sure you are using the latest server Yahoo has designated for you, can you access your mail through the link in the upper right of the Verizon Yahoo home page here: https://verizon.yahoo.com/.
Any difference?
I can access my mail through that link, but the problem remains--the line 'delete, move, not spam, more' still does not load...I cannot read email, move email, etc. using Firefox. I can with IE, which as I explained, I loathe.

Thank you so much, jscher2000. I never got to the part about trying Safe Mode... I did look at the delete yahoo.com cookies individually, but did not do so, because I don't understand that stuff and did not want to delete something important. I guess the 'delete Firefox cache' was what fixed the problem. Again, thanks so much. I'm an older lady and have little computer savvy. Btw, I did not know my question was on a public forum or I would not have included my email addy... Now I know... :)
