Can I find the message filters based on the "Move Message to" or other criteria?

As a new user I set up a message filter for each email address. Now I would like to change these to better grouping but I cannot find many of the filters to make the changes. Searching by "Move Message to" would be a big help. Are there any other search capabilities besides the beginning of the name.

Thanks very much for any assistance,

alr0

The tools for managing filters are rather ineffectual. And filters are created and stored per account, so in effect they can be scattered over multiple folders.

I think the key to this is knowing that the filters are stored in plain text files named msgFilterRules.dat, one per account.

If you can find a way to search these files for particular strings (senders' names, destination folders) then the location will at least tell you which account to look in. Inspection of the files' contents should reveal the name of the filter.

Notepad++ is probably the easiest search too to use. It has a "find in files" feature and you can set a mask to limit its searching to specific types of file.

Thanks very much Zenos, this really helps a lot!

I suppose this is on a list somewhere but not a high priority. I just wish I had paid a bit more attention sooner to what I was doing and the result. This info made it much easier to clean up my filters.

Thanks again,
