Unwanted graphics in Thunderbird Inbox
I am adding my email accounts to a new device. In the Thunderbird Mail inbox subject column, one of my daily senders, Pinterest, has a small pin image before the text. After setting up on the new screen, I find large coloured pins obscuring parts of several lines of the inbox. The other computer is the same as before. I have no idea where this annoyance originates or where to go to correct it. Any ideas?

This is an update of my question of 9/9/18. Is this where to post it? Another sender has a small image before the text in the Subject pane. I don't know if these are emoticons or what. This one does the same thing in the new set-up: a large coloured image obscuring parts of several adjoining subject entries. None of my attempts to remove it work. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. If "Reply" is not the place for further questions, could I be told the right way to do it?
upgrade to Thunderbird 60 or follow the instructions to remove the bad font gnome uses here https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1390015#c65
