I have a number of contacts with more that one email address and list a secondary address in their address book entry under 'Additional email' located directly below their primary email address. Until I upgraded to V60.7.0 my incoming mailbox always recognized the secondary address. Now it does not. I have tried re-entering the addresses, and tried creating new address cards - Thunderbird does not recognize the secondary address listed in the address book... (screenshot attached)

The Screenshot is below. ( I had to remove the original - too much personal info)

After rentering the 'additional email', did you restart Thunderbird? If no, please restart and report back on results.

What OS are you using?

It's been a problem since I upgraded to V60.7.0 - and it is a critical issue (for me) as many people use their phones as a secondary method to send email so both addresses are needed in the address book.

Obviously, the system has been rebooted hundreds of times since the upgrade and dozens of attempts have been made to get the system to recognize the "Additional Email" addresses with no success. The only way around is an address book double entry which does not make practical sense...

Windows 7 Professional, 64 Bit, SP1

And YES - tried a Thunderbird reboot after entry & still no recognition of the 'Additional Email' addresses...

I'm using Windows 10 OS, TB version 60.7.0 Like you, all contacts with additional email address, do not show the star as coloured. In Address Book, contact Edit, need to remove and add again additional email address to contact details and then restart Thunderbird to see 'additional' emails showing a coloured star in sent and received emails.

Whilst this worked for me clearly it does not work in all cases.

I've located a bug reported some time ago and updated it. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1088518

Thank you but I've tried that way too many times to count. For me (Win 7 Pro, 64 Bit, Sp 1) the Edit/Remove/Re-enter/Re-boot does not work. Also tried Edit/Remove/Re-boot/Edit/Re-enter/Re-boot. Nothing works. I may do a roll-back if the problem is not addressed in the next couple releases...

Just read the Bug Report: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1088518

Interesting to see the problem has been around for awhile with a couple additional related issues and never fully addressed. The only work-around I've been able to come up with is creating a new entry with the second address - resulting in an address book that is nearly double in size from what it should be and getting ridiculous to manage. NOT a proper solution....

no. The originator uses three email addresses covering seperate topics. |We have tried the options mentioned but the problem remains

Thank you. Maybe someone will have an answer with V 68.0.999...  :0\

Thunderbird does not recognize the additional addresses. As is made clear this has been the case since Thunderbird 30, even if it does work via a work around for toad-hall.

If you re seeing this in Thunderbird 60 and not in your previous version, I can only assume it was a version before 30. But as the bug has not been fixed then you will continue to see it until it is fixed, regardless of the version you use.

Thank you. It's becoming a bigger issue as more people have multiple addresses - i.e. cellphone email. I'll have to continue keeping multiple entries per person...
