Can I upgrade my Thunderbird 115.3.1 from 32 bit to 64 bit?
Can I upgrade my Thunderbird 115.3.1 from 32 bit to 64 bit?
My Thunderbird has recently automatically updated to V115.3.1 but remains 32 bit. When I go to the Thunderbird download page there doesn't appear to be a choice of version.

You can uninstall the 32 bit and install the 64 bit, but there's no significant performance gain, and there might be a disadvantage with some functions, e.g. if you frequently send files from a 32-bit scanner app or word processor to TB.
The current TB website no longer makes it easy to find TB for different languages or 32/64 bit, but they can be downloaded here:

Thanks for the speedy response - I don't use 32-bit apps linked to Thunderbird, but I was hoping that there would be an upgrade install rather than uninstall first. Looks like I may stay with 32-bit for now.
You can probably install the 64-bit over the 32-bit, as long as you specify the Program Files (x86) directory. Uninstalling 32-bit (which doesn't affect data in the separate profile folder), then installing 64-bit will install in Program Files.
Thanks - so just to be sure, either method would keep all my profile settings and all my stored emails.
Yes, just don't check the box to remove data during the uninstall.
Thanks - I'll keep that in mind if I install the 64-bit.

Hi, Have you installed the 64 bit version If yes, how was your experience with 64 bits version ? Any improvement/degradation noticed (performance, memory...) ?
