I have FF 5.0 on Vista64. I have been getting v6-beta upgrade offers, and want to prevent that. This article describes how to switch update channels:

This article is no longer maintained, so its content might be out of date.
It is out of date! That Channel Switcher was removed from 6.0 & 7.0 a few weeks ago, and was never in the 5.0 pre release versions. It didn't work out as originally envisioned by the developers.

Install a release version of 5.0.1 to get off the Beta Channel.
