cannot get on Internet with Firefox but I can wih Internet Explorer

I have tried to open Firefox several times the last few days. It will not open. I am able to open Internet Explorer and it will get me on the Internet with no problems, but stops working after a while. 

 I prefer to use Firefox and need help with this problem.  Thank you.
