i am getting a very strange bug with firefox after upgrading yesterday to version 9.01

You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today

to get the best of the Web!

that pops up 3/4 times it starts up which is odd as its the newest version and i removed the older one off my system manually before installing.

I saw this reported recently resetting the home page to the default (about:home) fixes the problem. Ref:

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/907328 Why does my start page say "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!" when in fact I do have the lastest version?

You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. It appears that page is no longer being maintained by Google. You appear to have the latest Firefox version.

If you want the Google search page as your home page, change your home page to about:home (a new, updated version of the old Google/Firefox home page is now built-in to Firefox).

See --> http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page

Also see --> https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Finding+your+Firefox+version You can also see your version on the Help > Troubleshooting Information display.

The simple fix is to go to the Options window - General Panel and click the "Restore to Default" button, explained in How to set the home page.
