I am using Firefox 9.0.1 with Mac Lion 10.7.2. I wanted to create an exception to saving passwords. I accessed this in preferences and with "Remember Passwords For Sites" checked, clicked Exceptions. The field does not receive type. (I can't get my cursor to set within the field so I am unable to enter a site.) Does anyone else using Lion have this issue? Thanks.

If you want to make an Exception, here's how you can do it:

-> IF your Username & Password is already stored by Firefox, you need to Delete it

-> IF your Username & Password is not currently stored by Firefox yet, when you Login to the website it will ask if you want Firefox to Remember them

  • Remember Password prompt will appear (screenshot attached)
  • click the drop-down Remember Password button and click Never Remember Password for This Site

Check and tell if its working.

-> IF you use Clear Recent History feature, DO NOT select Cookies, Forms and Search History, Active Logins, Site Preferences

-> IF you use Privacy Cleanup softwares like CCleaner, DON'T SELECT FIREFOX IN ITS SETTINGS.

  • These softwares can be responsible for Deleting your Firefox Settings.

Thanks, mha007. This installation of Firefox 9.0.1 is new and I was surprised to notice that it has never once asked me if I'd like to remember a password. It's set in preferences to do so and, although I thought it was odd that I'm never prompted by Firefox to remember, I just figured that perhaps this is a new thing in Firefox; that if you have it checked in preferences, it no longer asks. But I see that there are no saved passwords collected, now that I check.

Perhaps it's unique to the Mac version of Firefox but in preferences, I have an Exception clink next to the option to save passwords (Firefox---> Preferences--->Security----> Passwords. What I do not see, now that I'm looking, is any place at all to set preferences for Cookies. Hmmm... I can't set cookie preferences, so I suppose it's no wonder passwords aren't saved.  :o/

This is a bit dodgy for me to sort through on the fly (I'm currently being rushed) but thanks for your reply and I'll glean through all you suggest.
