Every operation made (such as changing tabs, xing-out an option on the web page, EVEN selecting "Restart Mozilla Foxfire without plug-ins" triggers the R6034 runtime error involving the plugin-container.exe. And there is no appearance of an error report being generated. Essentially, the problem has made Foxfire inoperative and I am sending this message (very regretably) from IE.

Could you try starting Firefox's Safe Mode ("Restart without add-ons") using an alternate method: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox.

In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."

Does it make any difference?

Safe mode doesn't disable plugins, so you need to check that out separately by disabling them.
