Using backspace in text box deletes everything except current word.
When I press the backspace button twice it deletes everything in the box except the current word I am on.

Hey Is this only reproducing in Firefox for Android? Or on other applications to? Can you tell me which Keyboard are you using?
This happens only in Firefox on both my Samsung Galaxy Nexus running 4.1.1 and my Nexus 7 which I think is also running 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. I am using the stock keyboard on both devices.

I am just confirming that I am also experiencing this same problem with Firefox 16.0.1 running on a Google Nexus 7 tablet running Jellybean (Android version 4.1.2). As mat.murdock, I am also using the stock on-screen keyboard.
This problem with pressing the backspace key more than once and having all of the text deleted manifests itself with both text and textarea boxes.
This problem does not appear with Google Chrome running on this tablet.
I have the same problem on a Google Nexus 7. I was able to reproduce it in the current 16.0.1 Firefox as well as the 17.0 beta. As with everyone else, it's the stock Android 4.1.2 firmware with the stock keyboard.
I also noticed that it doesn't automatically capitalize words at the beginning of sentences. I thought that might be related since they're both text input issues.
Ok, so this is a bug, reported as https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=792928 and now considered to be fixed. The nightly build of Firefox 19 from http://nightly.mozilla.org/ did not have the backspacing issue.
This issue still exists for me. Firefox 17.0 Android 4.2 on Nexus 7. It is reproducible in phpbb forums, facebook, & website comments sections.
I am just confirming the same problem with the same hardware and software as adwade. This problem still exists with Firefox 17.0, Android 4.2, on a Nexus 7 tablet.
They aren't going to backport the fix. Try with Nightly or just wait for 19 to release.
The release notes for 17 says the text delete issue was fixed. If not a separate issue then the problem remains. This should be fixed before a 19 release.
PS>this problem happened three times while typing
