i imported IE favorites into firefox bookmarks. my IE favorites contained many folders with different categoties of information......eg., folders for car repair, investments, etc. now that i am using firefox, how do i bookmark a new page into one of the existing IE favorite folders? I have tried every option I could think of using the options shown when i click bookmark this page.......i am getting as far as FROM INTERNET EXPLORER, but i can't seem to find a way to reach one of the sub-folders within the FROM INTERNET EXPLORER folder? also, nothing is happening when i click on the star symbol to the right of the address space?

hello maley2711, when you've bookmarked a page through the star icon, click on it again to bring up the edit bookmark panel. there you can click on the arrow on the right of the folder section to show the whole bookmarks library tree, so you can navigate to the right folder.

please also update firefox to the latest version as soon as possible - you are using an outdated version affected by numerous known security vulnerabilities which will put the integrity of your system and your personal data at risk!

thanks for the response, but doesn't seem to work? as you directed , I click the 2nd arrow to the right of the folder box(where i can choose unsorted bookmarks, from internet explorer, etc) but i don't see a detailed tree showing the dozens of sub-folders that are within the imported internet explorer main favorites folder. i do see the entire tree when i click Show All Bookmarksin the menu under Bookmarks at the top of a firefox page!!

ideas? otherwise, mostly my computer seems to function ok, now that i have uninstalled the failed(crashed) Norton Internet Security from my computer! Suggestions for something better?

Thanks,

Dale

thanks for trying to help....no, when i click on "from internet explorer", don't get the tree. It may be my bad memory, but i thought that i remembered that i was able to pull up the tree in the past?

have you imported favorite from IE including sub-folders....have you been able to use bookmark in firefox to add new entries to the sub-folders within "from internet explorer"?

i did some googling on this problem, but couldn't anything that CLEARLY discussed this topic?

Did you try to copy all bookmarks in the "From Internet Explorer" folder and paste them in a new folder that you create in the Bookmarks Menu folder?

thanks for the suggestion....sounds good to Old Goofy! Before your response was received, I continued to fiddle with the popup box that appears when you click the "bookmark this page". in my fiddling, i noticed that at least once, a litlle small solid triangle appeared just before From IE....I clicked on that little triangle and voila, there were all my sub-folders under the main IE folder!!! Nowhere in all the old posted Firefox support had I seen I clear illustration of doing this......probably I missed it or I'm just a dumbie?

Meanwhile, if anyone is having all kinds of strange problems with computer, and no browsers including IE, with the exception of Firefox, are working properly, if you have Norton Security on your computer and it al;so is not working properly, UNINSTALL NORTON!!!!!!!!!!! That was my situation, to the extent HP free support was going to help me wipe the drive and try to put the computer back "as new", but using a different security program!!!!!
