won't use default system font
I got a new Windows 7 computer and installed Firefox. Unlike on my XP machine, the Firefox installation on my Windows 7 machine won't use my chosen system font for menu, tabs, tool tips, etc. Instead it uses Arial or something similar. Any idea on how to get it to do act the same as on my other machine?
FYI, it behaved this way right from the install, in other words, before any add-ons were added. So it doesn't have anything to do with any add-ons.
I am posting this from my XP machine, but the new machine is Windows 7 professional 64-bit.
Thanks, Ellen

You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).
I am referring to my chosen system font for menu, tabs, tool tips, etc. not the display font for pages.
The font is displaying correctly everywhere else, so not a font problem.
Which font are you trying to use?
Does only this font give issues or also if you select another font?
I tried another font and it did work. But, the other font works fine with everything else, and does not cause the same problem with Firefox on my XP computer. Is there a way to get around this problem?
It is still likely that there is a problem with the font that you intend to use. So you will have to reinstall this font.
Which font are you trying to use?
Did you check if it really shows properly if you use the test site I posted above?
Does Firefox use the font when you select it as the default font?
You can temporarily disable website fonts to test the selected default font.
- Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced
- [ ] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
>It is still likely that there is a problem with the font that you intend to use. So you will have to reinstall this font.< I did. No change. There is no problem except with Firefox.
It's a font I'm sure you're not familiar with, Dream Orphanage.
>Did you check if it really shows properly if you use the test site I posted above?< It showed in the list just like every other font.
>Does Firefox use the font when you select it as the default font?< If you mean does it use it to display webpages if selected as the default font, yes, it does. But that's not what I'm using it for.

I just wanted to make sure that Firefox can at least find and render this font.
This font doesn't seem to have glyphs for a lot of characters, so it is possible that Firefox needs glyphs for characters that are not in this font and thus uses another fallback font for all characters.

As I was trying to make clear in my original post, this same font works perfectly well with Firefox on my XP machine. I am only having this problem on my new Windows 7 machine, and on that machine, only with Firefox with this particular issue.
