How to disable new tab opening a link

when i open a new tab now it opens a link to "www.trovi.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3319598&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=MA80B07F5-40F7-41BC-A760-9F1F796B2BC2&SearchSource=69&CUI=&SSPV=&Lay=1&UM=5&UP=SP840D5001-984D-4CCB-A577-113E5C9CAA4E"....... I have tried the about:config - reset browser.newtab.url - and restarted fire fox and restarted computer but its still there nor can i modify the url for a new tab it returns to the trovi.com url.... PLEASE HELP!!!
