Where are my offline "local" files? Had a crash and now can't find them.
I stored some sensitive correspondence in "local folders" and manager to back up my macbook hard drive before clearing the disk and reinstalling osx. All the imap files returned when i reconfigured the email accounts but i still can'l locate the local folders. Any ideas about where to look will be greatly appreciated. PS, i will never use local folders again.

If you backed up the profile or local folders within then emails will be located in ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/Profile name/Mail/Local Folders see info undr Mac OS X section at the links;

You may need to make hidden files and folders visible.
when you clearied the disk and reinstalling osx, this would wipe out anything on computer, so you would have needed to backup local folders files. Then you would need to reinstall them. Locate backup file Local Folders. Copy the contents of Local Folder into the Local Folder currently used in new profile. It will overwrite any folders in Local Folders.
Make sure that Thunderbird is closed before performing this.
thanks for the assistance. i already looked, but the external drive contained nothing in the local folders except the defaults - inbox, trash, sent, etc. either the disk back-up did not copy the local folders or they are hidden somewhere else. part of my problem is the confused organization of the mozilla user files. there are multiple identities in the "shared" folder with various names or code numbers. i restored them all to the clean disk. any idea how to go about sorting them out so my mozilla files are clearly organized?
